ANZAC Day, observed annually on April 25, is a significant day of remembrance in Australia, honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

Unusually, for 2026 the NSW government has created a special public holiday on Monday 27th because this year's ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday.

In Sydney, the day begins with solemn dawn services and marches, followed by the traditional game of two-up, a unique Australian gambling game that's only legally played in public on this day.

🌅 Start with a Moment of Remembrance (📍CBD)

🕓 Dawn Service – Martin Place Cenotaph
Set your alarm and head to the city by 4:20AM on Sat 25th for a powerful service at the Martin Place Cenotaph. You’ll join thousands paying tribute in the heart of the CBD.

🎖️ ANZAC Day March – From 9AM
Line the streets to support veterans and their families. The march starts in the city and finishes with a special service at Hyde Park’s Pool of Remembrance. It includes a major RAAF flyover at about 9.15am.

Official Commemoration Service and Wreath-laying
This takes place at the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park South (12:30 pm)

Alternative Dawn Service options

  • North Bondi RSL Dawn Service (6:00 am): Held directly on the beach, this is one of Sydney’s most iconic and scenic services.

The RSL opens from 4 am, offering breakfast, followed by traditional Two-Up on the Green from 12–4 pm and live music.
  • North Sydney War Memorial (5:45 am): Located at 71–83 Ridge St, North Sydney, this traditional service brings together the North Shore community.
  • Maroubra RSL Sub-branch (4:30 am): Held at their location at 946 Anzac Parade, featuring a dawn service in the local community.
